Yeah, I liked this a lot. It's such a shame that schools don't include this in their curriculums as 'learning to learn' is clearly neglected.

Just a thought but doesn't it make sense then to apply a proficiency or maturity level associated with mental models so an individual can immediately determine their target effort & educational sources to speed up the process of reaching their goal?

1 - Fundamental Awareness (basic knowledge)

2 - Novice (limited experience)

3 - Intermediate (practical application)

4 - Advanced (applied theory)

(Obviously depending on the individual's learning styles) My goal = novice in product X = Level 2 approach = define starting mental model, add introductory videos YouTube, add Dummy's Guide to X, add hands on with product in test environment to achieve basic scenarios.
